EAP Services
People need support- 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental health issue in any given year. How will this affect your business? Can you support your people to bounce back to a happy, healthy and productive workplace?
Never Fear, WiseGuy EAP is here
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed as a confidential short-term, solution focussed Counselling service paid by an employer, serving to offer an effective means of assisting employees with problems impacting job performance and personal wellbeing.
An EAP provides many advantages to both employers and employees– allowing you to offer a high-value service to your employees for a low annual or sessional cost, compared to the potential amount of lost productivity.
The key benefits of an EAP program will enable you to prevent, identify, and resolve personal and work related issues before they can negatively impact your workplace. This is through:
Increased morale
Improved productivity, due to alleviating personal and work issues
Assisting managers to deal with complex employee issues and strategies
Reduced workplace absenteeism (or presenteeism)
Reduced WHS risks by having a proactive system in place for supporting your employees mental health.
EAP counselling
Employees will benefit from confidential access to highly qualified external counsellors who are located outside the workplace. These counsellors are trained in a variety of short-term, solution focussed techniques to assist people to resolve their problems, or create a solid foundation for referral to longer term support. Typically employees and immediate family members can access a set number of sessions each year, for peronal or work issues. Clients can anonymously self refer by phonecall or email, where they are issued an anonymous client number to ensure confidentiality.
Manager Assistance
Managers can request assistance with issues as they arise in the workplace, whilst the ultimate decisions stay with the manager, we can formulate strategies and talk through how best to deal with difficult situations, such as:
Encouraging or supporting an employee to access EAP
How to have helpful or potentially difficult conversations with staff having difficulties
Support ineffective communication in the workplace
Assistance in handling team issues
Managing a challenging employee
Support with employee performance management issues
Guidance in handling crisis or emergency workplace issues.
Coaching services
Managers may formally refer an employee for coaching to address behaviours which are impacting on an employee’s productivity at work. For example absenteeism, aggression and conflict, communication issues etc. The manager and employee will formulate and agree on goals for counselling, which are then worked on in session. This is a transparent process in which the employee consents to the manager receiving feedback on progress with counselling goals.
Training and Workshops
We are able to deliver employee health & well-being training solutions for wellness in the workplace and home. Ranging from 1-2 hours and beyond, we have a range of training workshops, delivered by experienced counsellors and trainers. Covering topics such as Workplace mental health and wellbeing, communication and conflict management and productivity and performance. Workshops can be customised by request.
Mediation Services
Sometimes you may be dealing with a conflict between employees that is escalating or becoming an issue in the workplace. Or employees may request this service via their manager
We can provide a mediation/conflict management process that helps the parties come together to communicate and implement practical and sustainable solutions.
The mediating clinician will collaborate with the Referring Manager/HR to identify involved persons, set goals and formulate a plan moving forwards. Participants will be guided by the mediator through a confidential process to communicate through their differences, and agree on a written plan or contract on how to proceed together. Once an agreement has been reached, the confidential agreement will be shared with the referring manager.
